Damn it, sorry I missed you all
We boat about 7 months a yr typically.. last yr we put on 386 hours. Our exact fuel bill i do not know. We fueled out of state for 3.70 a gallon.
Cheaper than Chicago ? ( wink-wink )
Cha-Ching
Damn, where do you go? That’s over 13hrs/ week. I though I was using my boat at 100hrs/ season. I put 185 gal in my boat this week, 65 hrs so far this year, got a late start due to a bad transmission.
Hmmmm, apparently pulling the transmission went without a hitch?
I want a big lake boat something fierce….. But I don’t think I can pull it off on our salary.
I could do all maintenence myself, but fuel numbers like that, not a chance. 🙁
Albert Bartkus….if you slow down you might only need 225 gallons next week
Nice triip, but did you really save that much on gas since you had to go there and back? I know the ride was worth it.
With that usage you may want to seriously consider some yanmars or reman’d cummins. I was in your boat (pun intended), I use my boat every day or two, the old one had 7.4 mpi’s and would eat $600-$1k a week in fuel. I bought a diesel boat and my only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.
Cat 3208’s at 2200 rpm push our semi-displacement 42,000 lb hull at 14 knots with 10 gph burn. WOT is 2850 and it will make 17-19 knots, but I’m in no hurry.
Curious what diesel was there?
What size engines Albert Bartkus. Lots of fuel….
454 Crusader XL fuel injected
Might have a little trouble fitting that in your engine room ????
?
Chris Craft offered turbines at one time, not sure if any still survive http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/Dogsharks/Boating/Back%20up%20images%20to%20postings/bdf66a82.jpg
Lazing at the dock.
