Shore power question? So I moved to a new slip that has a larger deck behind it. Currently my shore power connects on the starboard side but in this slip I really need it switched to the port side (pictured). Currently portside has some weird connector and a phone jack connector. I'm pretty sure originally the boat came with Shore power on both sides. My breaker box is on the port side and it's only about five feet from where the probable original portside Shore power connector used to be. I'm debating on just ordering a longer 50 amp Shore power cord (and route it all around the dock) or should I have an electrician just put a portside outlet in? How big a job is that for the electrician?

Put a 50 Amp on both sides ! Be better in the long run as You won’t have to continue to buy longer cords to store and accommodate ! I did and its not that tough ! Just have the electrician or someone who can do this snake the wire back to the panel and put another outlet on the side of the boat . A bit of work but easier than lugging or trying to tie 100 ft or longer cords all around . Of course you can run it to the back of the boat along the transom deck and get to the shore power also so there are 2 options ! Whatever you feel comfortable with !
If you have two connector you will need a special switch that only allows one to be live at the same time otherwise you will have the other side have live current in unprotected inlet.

My understanding is there needs to be a breaker within 8ft of the shore power plug. Moving to the port side would make this easy.
I had outlets on both sides. I would add one.
