So how many of you have seen or used a proper tie wire tool. This is used for the safety wire on the transmission to shaft coupler. There is more to it than meets the eye. The idea is that properly tied wire wrapped in the proper direction will keep the bold from backing out in addition to it coming loose. #missmarianne https://youtu.be/OwFjUX6SaY8

My BIL and a nephew are both A & P’s…know all about ’em.
Used them all the time in Air Force, holds fight jet togeather, its not a lost art yet!
The only trick is to wrap the wire around outside of fastener counter clockwise, against loosening rotation.
Have it, it’s the only way
Yep. I was an a&p also. Use this on locomotives now.
I learned marine mechanics in 1974 from a Miami master. Properly twisted safety wire indicates work from a craftsman.
Looks like what I used in the Marine Corps
Yep… same ones I have in my tool box
Used them on everything in the Navy
Plenty… I used to work in the aviation industry…
Also used on EVER Safety Relief Valve in the process industry.
Military uses…
There is an art to it.
Wrap wire around so its always pulling tight
In jet aircraft maintenance, this was a requirement for us.
So, what you’re all saying, stop doing it like you’re putting the twist tie back on a loaf of bread?
