You can only imagine the interior on this beautiful lady
Would love to know the story behind this
are they working on her?
If I ever hit power ball.
They were trying to raise money to refit it years ago. It sat in Annapolis minimum four years while I lived there 1992-1996.
I think you And Albert should bring it home how cool would that be????
Isn’t it a Trumphy
I believe she is in Norfolk/Chesapeake area to be restored
Not sure if it being out of the water is a good sign or a bad sign.
Sad
Maybe the donald will refurbish, one can only hope so
You guys going up the erie
Enjoy the seafood festival and the Maritime Museum.
She won’t dissappear WilliamSchock. II’ve been following her for decades. She was just sold for a dollar to a group that had a claim.. Usually some group who feels they can capitalize on her will buy and refit her, only to discover that we are not so “profitably” nostalgic. Awesome boat. Spends more time in court than a judge or lawyer.
Hell yes
any one know what her engines are?
Hell, you could fit all of us “Life of a Captain” followers in that beauty. Sign me up.
We donated a lot of teak and mahogany over the years for her upkeep. I hope she will be brought back to
Life
Yes
Hell yeah!
Sad to see the plastic on her it’s not good for a wood boat makes a dry rot mess
Yep
That shrink wrap is to destroy it from the inside out. Air circulation!
Some of you well off folks should save her.
No to long ago I sat at a bar in DC looking out at her. Too bad they shrink wrapped her will likely do more harm than good on a wood boat
Albert Bartkus can fix anything with your help and a little elbow grease she will be good as new! I will by the champagne! ????????
Cost? Plus cost to rebuild ? Makes a difference.
Where is this now?Chesapeake?
I saw the sequia in the Detroit River in the early 90’s I think it was the 90’s could have been latelling 80’s anyone know when?
I answered my own question. Lol!
Of course all you arm chair critics who don’t have a yard big enough to put a canoe in wouldnt be qualified to tell these folks storing this massive piece of jistory the correct way to do it…suppose they could have left her wide open to the elements…because we all know that works out well long term…clowns
I was on her on a cruise with my parents when I was 6or7…
Today breathable Sunbrella, 2 years setting in the sun tightly wrapped in a sandwich bag, you got rot every where.
yep Albert needs a new project this would be perfect
its wood and its planked,a man put it together and a man can take it apart and fix it if you feel up to the task then go for it and be damed about anyones opp.
Shrink wrap is just the worst..
It’s also a piece of history and it needs to be saved
Take the rest of your life to restore it if you were to do it by yourself!
What happened to the Sequoia? I’ve been onboard her a number of times, the last time in 1997…
She was in CT in the mid 80’s. i sold the owners a restored CC Holiday that was used as a passenger shuttle.
This is the boat Harry S Truman was aboard when Phil Sharples took a close by victory pass aboard Bombita and splashed him, 1947 Potomic River, Presidents Cup event. Phil told me Truman made a fist and yelled “you son-of-*****” (twice), lol
A national disgrace such a piece of American history be left to rot away. Perhaps it’s time to write for a grant to the US for its restoration.
I know a guy, Jim Moore, he could fix it, now about that grant…????
