Sorry Cindy. I don’t have a clue on that one. Do you have a manual. Is it an Onan ?? You could always call the manufacturer. Or, In these times and days. Google it. That’s what I do.

Many are 1800 RPM. I think not only Voltage, but Hertz (HZ – Cycles per second) may also be a factor. Most AC electrical systems can vary from 110-125VAC, but HZ should be 60. This can affect certain electrical equipment.

You can google and download the manual- that way you can set it the way the manufacturer wants. I did that for mine, way better than advice off FB- not saying any of it is wrong, just a better practice to get correct info from manufacturers

It depends on the genset ratingnad engine configuration. Up to 12KW or so many are 4-pole machines and they run at 1800 RPM full load – a bit higher at no load. Above that, many are 6-pole machines that run at 1200 RPM.

A note from one of the folks on the Stak:
“That is a MDJF for sure , do not know what vintage since I can’t see the gen end but based on the fuel solenoid I believe it to be a YD gen end. The video is not really long enough to be conclusive but it sounds like a fuel supply/starvation issue with the surging of the engine RPM. I would put a meter on the output and check the HZ but it sounds like it is going up and down, may be a restriction in the fuel supply , is there a fuel transfer pump which needs to be powered up to run? “
