    Just my opinion, but if you take off those end trim pieces you can get varnish into the end grain of the transom planks. That’s where most of the water damage happens.

    Looking great! I’ve had success with Jamestown Distributors “Lust” varnish. It dries in an hour and can build 6 coats in one day. Much cheaper than Awlwood MA.
