These switch ring things… What do you call them and where’s the best place to get more? Some of mine are missing and some are clearly varnished over.

That sump label, will readily clean up with some acetone , and a scuff with 0000 steelwool. If you ever need more you can readily buy these on ebay, but some are really scarce, like your sump label. If you have a really rusty one, next time you need to chrome something, throw it in. For rare ones, or for custom uses, I have bought these before and taken them in to my engraver.

http://www.Marine-sales.com Harrison Township, Mi has huge inventory of hard to find parts, esp. Chris Craft. Earl (the Pearl) owner, same biz over fifty years. Bought much of Chris crafts inventory when they went out of biz. Local resource and wealth of knowledge. I’m going there next few days for some 1972 NOS XK22 Chris Craft parts.

You can also simmer the varnished part in hot water. On a hot plate or at home. Works nice on items that are chromed or painted (like builder tags or brass instruction tags. The varnish will soften long before paint or chrome will.
