Erie Canal Day 1 – Great Loop

Today we hit the Erie Canal. This Time Lapse is almost the entire days run west. We had the opportunity to run along with a couple Huckins Yachts Heading to Michigan but not before going through the Trent Severn Waterway first. We had the pleasure of meeting another Chris Craft Boat Club member, Todd Henzell. Marianne took the lead later in this run and we stepped up the pace just a bit. #MissMarianne

Erie Canal day 2 – Great Loop

I normally don’t like to post long videos but this one is of today. All day start to finish. Left Amsterdam, NY to Sylvan Beach. About 11 hours of running hard. Also helped not having any other boats around us so we managed 12 locks. Fuel stop in the middle of the video. #MissMarianne

Here is Day 4 of the Erie Canal in time lapse. Much more interesting today. The big thing today is we cleared the lowest bridges in the system on this stretch. #MissMarianne

Erie Canal Day 5

Amazing last day of the Erie Canal run to the Niagara River. Went through many cool little towns. Everywhere there was a lift bridge was worth of an over night stay. We got stalled at one bridge for a Memorial Day Parade. Had to wait for the attractive younger bridge tender so we went to watch the parade and continued on. over 5 days and 35 locks and about 500 miles but don’t quote me on it. We had a great experience in New York State.

My method of adjusting packing nuts. I last did it about 3 months ago in 75 degree salt water. Now the water is fresh and cold requiring another adjustment. I like to do it while under way always. Not at dock. The saft actually heats a little when running so in my opinion if you do it at the dock and get it just right it may not be the case when under way. This is only my opinion but works for me. #MissMarianne.

Will make Lake Michigan today. It will be almost 8 months since i have been there with Marianne. Hopefully it’s warmer down there because upper Lake Huron is still real cold. Notice the strait track from the stern. 40 plus year old Benmar Auto Helm.
